Chef’s Special: LEGO Classic TV Series Batmobile – Set 76328

Published on:

When DC revamped their licensing program a few years ago, creating the Mutiverse line, it opened the floodgates for merchandise based on properties that had been dormant, but highly sought after. Chief among these was the beloved 1966 tv series Batman. Starring Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin, the series saw the Dynamic Duo take on some of their most famous villains, including the Joker, the Penguin, the Riddler and Catwoman. But, one of the standout stars of this show was the Batmobile. This legendary and iconic car remains one of the most popular TV vehicles of all time. Created by the legendary George Barris by modifying a Lincoln Futura concept car, the Batmobile came with every crime fighting gadget you could imagine, an arsenal that would give James Bond’s Q Branch a run for their money. Although the Classic Batman TV Series has seen a huge amount of merchandise over the last few years, particularly when it comes to toys, it is no stretch to say that this item is one every fan has been waiting for. Although LEGO has released two prior Batman Tv Series sets, 76052 (Classic TV Series Batcave) and 76188 (Classic TV Series Batmobile). However, in both of those sets, the Batmobile is mini figure size. This Batmobile is HUGE. The set is a masterpiece. It is everything every Batman fan has been looking for, and then some. Now, I should just end the review right there, but I won’t, cause I love talking about this set.

First, the basics, this set contains 1822 pieces, and comes with one minifigure, Batman himself. Although Batman technically fits in this Batmobile, I don’t think he can see over the steering wheel of this massive car to drive it. Make no mistake, this is a very large car. when finished, it is 20 inches long and 5.5 inches high. Everything that you remember about the Batmobile is represented. The siren, the red trim, the three pipes on the back, the afterburner in the back, the Bat-Phone in the middle of the cockpit, all of the various signs call out the different switches, even the legendary emergency Bat-Turn lever. But, the piece de resistance has to be the inclusion of the Mobile Crime Computer in the trunk.

I can’t say enough about how amazing this model is and how well the designers put it all together. In addition to the beautiful vinyl cape on the minifigure, this set features a brand new LEGO element. It turns out that no existing brick or combination of bricks would accurately recreate the iconic bubble cockpit, so LEGO designed a brand new element, which makes its debut in this set.

This set is everything I could have hoped for and then some. If you are a fan of the series at all, y oh should buy it. If you are a serious fan, you should have bought it already. If by chance you haven’t, do so as soon as you finish reading this. This is one of those rare occasions where I wish that my review scale went higher than 5. One of my favorite sets EVER! This set gets an absolute, no doubt, 5 out of 5.
