TOY FAIR 2026 – SPIN MASTER

33

This year’s Toy Fair is a somewhat bittersweet affair, mostly due to licenses changing hands and lines ending as a result. The first instance I experienced in this vein was with Spin Master. Due to the return of the Dc License to Mattel, Spin Master was forced to discontinue their incredible 4in DC line. They did an amazing job with this line, producing some characters I never thought I would see before. However, the past is the past, and Spin Master is moving into the future. Their recent purchase of Melissa and Doug has vastly increased their footprint in the toy aisle.

At Toy Fair, they were celebrating their Toy of the Year Win for Primal Hatch, the fusion of Jurassic Park and Hatchimals. The show saw the debut of their newest fusion, a new Hatchimals product themed to the Super Mario Galaxy Movie. This, of course, means a hatching Yoshi. It is every bit as adorable as it sounds. Here is a video of the hatching, taken live at their showroom.

And, because I couldn’t just watch, here is my own personal “hands on with Yoshi.

Aside from Yoshi, Spin Master also had some very cool items in the Rubik’s line, including a new “main” cube, with updated graphics, mechanics and packaging. There were also some very cool variations on the classic cube.

Also, as discussed earlier, Spin Master won the prestigious Toy of the Year Award for their Primal Hatch, a hatching Baby T-Rex. This year, a refresh of that product featuring a different color scheme will be joined on the shelf by a hatching Megalodon, which you pour water over to begin the hatching process.
